A “flamer” is a derogatory term used to describe a gay man.

Origin: Probably from the fact that in the past some certain cultures put homosexual men on fire.

Vocabulary - Poof/poofter

Poof/Poofter:

An offensive, derogatory word meaning a gay man.

Everybody thought Gavin was a poof because he liked classical music and going to the ballet.

Boys in my high school used to go "poofter bashing". They'd find a guy in the park they thought was gay, and they'd beat him up.

Vocabulary - Bull Dyke

Bull Dyke:

A lesbian who is very manly in appearance and behavior.

My sister is a bull dyke and she's in a gang of women who ride big motorbikes and wear leather jackets.

We saw all sorts of interesting people in the Gay Mardi Gras parade, including drag queens, leather guys and bull dykes.

Vocabulary - Order of the Broken Wrist

Order of the Broken Wrist:

A man that is known to be gay.

Man #1: "Dude, Joe sure seems to get a lot of ladies."

Man #2: "Naw, not him. He is a member of the Order of the Broken Wrist."

Man #1: "No kidding? I thought he liked girls."

The gay couple invited all their friends to celebrate the couple's garriage ceremony.
